VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

• Videos must have a resolution suitable for large screen projections

  (1024 x 760)

• Acceptable file formats are (MOV (.mov), MPEG-4 (.mp4), FLV (.flv), or WMV (.wmv)

• Participants must submit a release and parent permission form along with your video for ALL individuals in the video

• Videos must not include anything abusive, profane, pornographic, disrespectful, threatening or defamatory toward any person, entity, belief, or symbol.

• No third-party proprietary, intellectual property or copyright-protected content or material may be used in your video. If a brand of another entity (e.g.,image of a Pepsi can, Nike symbol on a shirt, or other trademark or copyright symbol or marking, etc.) appears, you must ensure it is not viewable.  If you quote research, another individual or organization in your speech, you must have written permission from the author of the content allowing for FranklinCovey’s use of the third-party content in the Video. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold FranklinCovey harmless against any claim, damage, loss, or expenses arising from FranklinCovey’s use of your video and your infringement of another’s third-party intellectual property rights. By entering, Entrant agrees to defend, release and hold harmless FranklinCovey and its agents from and against any claims, action and/or liability for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from Entrant’s participation herein (including in connection with the use and/or exploitation of the submitted video) or from the acceptance or use of any prize awarded. By accepting the prizes, winners agree to hold FranklinCovey and its affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, contractors, harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of participation in this Video or Video contest, related to prizes, and/or due to any negligent or willful misconduct that causes harm to another by Video participants or by those appearing in the Video. Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused from participation in the contest or use/redemption of any prize.

JUDGING

Judges of the competition may be no less than four (4) employees of the FranklinCovey Education Division. The judges’ decision is final. No one will be allowed to be a judge if he/she has a conflict of interest with respect to any of the contest participants, as determined by FranklinCovey in its sole discretion. Any FranklinCovey employees or their immediate family members are ineligible to participate.

PRIZE GUIDELINES

For the judged contest, all videos that meet the contest guidelines will be judged on the Speech Contest Rubric. The top videos will be awarded a Leadership Grant.

Disqualification: The judges reserve the right to disqualify any team, contributor, entrant, or entered video that does not comply with the Official Rules and other Contest requirements communicated by the organizer. They also reserve the right to disqualify videos submitted by or promoting for-profit entities at the sole discretion of FranklinCovey.

VIDEO SUBMISSION

Videos may be submitted through the contest website starting February 1, 2021. The deadline for submissions is April 2, 2021. Winners will be announced May 24, 2021.

Schools should keep at least one copy of their video. FranklinCovey Co. is not responsible for any films that are lost, damaged, or that do not upload properly.

ADDITIONAL TERMS- BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY

Entrant unconditionally assigns and transfers to FranklinCovey Co. (hereafter “FranklinCovey”) all rights, ownership, title, interest and claim (including without limitation all copyrights), which it now has or may have in the future, to entries (including, without limitation, the submitted video), whether or not acceptable to FranklinCovey and regardless of the form they take, or any element(s) thereof and further grants to FranklinCovey the right to use, publish, exploit and/or modify any entry and/or video submitted in connection herewith in any manner it wishes, regardless if the media is now existing or hereafter created.

FranklinCovey reserves the right to edit and/or modify any video content or video titles and publish or advertise the video without Entrant’s approval, acknowledgement or compensation unless prohibited by law.

FranklinCovey reserves the right to verify eligibility qualifications of the winner. U.S. law governs these contest rules.

FranklinCovey has the right to modify, use, assign or dispose of your entry however it sees fit without approval of entrant or any third party. Participants grants FranklinCovey the right to use their names, images, likenesses, photographs, voices and biographical materials, and video submissions, for advertising, publicity and promotion purposes including posting the videos or screen names online for any purpose or on a winner’s list and other online announcements, and for sharing the videos with the media for viewing, whether TV or print, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Neither participants nor winner shall receive any compensation or credit for use of entries, other than that disclosed in these rules.

FranklinCovey is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human or other error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any online service or web site, or any other error or malfunction, or any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation herein, or for any injury to person or property, including but not limited to video equipment, arising from the entrant’s participation herein or for the use or misuse of any prize won. FranklinCovey is not responsible for lost, late, illegible or misdirected entries.

Entrant warrants that their submission is original, that publication of the submission will not infringe on the rights of others, and Entrant has full power to grant ownership to FranklinCovey as stated herein.

FranklinCovey has no obligation of any nature to publish, promote, display or otherwise use any information provided by Participants, including but not limited to biographical or video content.

All taxes are the responsibility of the winners.

FranklinCovey reserves the right to change and update the rules, terms and conditions of this contest at any point in its sole discretion. It is the duty of the entrant to review and continually refer to the link for updates to the terms and conditions set forth herein.
